Massachusetts Motorcyclists Collaborate with New York
Motorcycling Activists to Halt Arbitrary Motorcycle Roadblocks
(Boston, MA) The Massachusetts Chapter of Biker of Lesser Tolerance (B.O.L.T.) has begun collaborating with the New York Freedom Riders, and their counsel, representing several riders in a lawsuit filed in the US Federal Court, in efforts to extinguish state and municipal "roadblocks" or so-called "safety checkpoints" requiring only motorcyclists to submit to an arbitrary inspection of their bikes.
While there has been rare experience with such activity in Massachusetts, this practice has been quite active in New York State since 2008, at locations where organized Motorcycling Rallies are held. Said roadblocks occur on New York Highway Exits that riders use to get to the scheduled Rallies.
In their insidious nature, the "roadblocks" for motorcycles-only are falsely entitled "Motorcycle Safety Checkpoints" by Government sponsored agencies. However, most motorcyclists see this as nothing more that opportunities for harassment of fellow motorcycle riders.
Furthermore, motorcyclists see these tactics as a revenue enhancement procedure during difficult economic times with the citations they can write motorcyclists based upon police officers arbitrary assumptions and not in the name of "safety."
Following this action that New York has been performing, the Federal Government under the auspices of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (N.H.T.S.A.), offered financial incentives to individual states to perform Motorcycle-Only "Checkpoints."
Last season, the State of Georgia received a $70,000 grant to pay for motorcycle-only "checkpoints" to be operated during the recent annual Daytona Florida Bike Week, giving Georgia multiple opportunities to stop multitudes of motorcycle riders on their way to this mammoth 70 year-old Rally.
"This is pure Fascism, plain and simple," stated Massachusetts B.O.L.T. Director Bill Gannon. "Police Departments are stopping and harassing motorcyclists without probable cause, proper authority, statute or ordinance that specifically authorizes such fascist tactics once again by a tyrannical action targeting a single subculture of our society.
"Police officers are not trained mechanics and most do not have the competency to check a motorcycle engineering for safety purposes. That is why we go to actual mechanics annually to have our motorcycles inspected and the inspection sticker displayed on our vehicles should be enough evidence to allow us to travel unimpeded," Gannon continued.
Massachusetts B.O.L.T. Legislative Director Paul Cote` said, It reminds me of the "Checkpoint Charlie" stops separating East and West Germany before the Berlin Wall was torn down.
Massachusetts B.O.L.T. is also planning a lobbying effort on behalf of US House Resolution 904 authored by Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, which would prohibit NHTSA from providing grants for Motorcycle-Only "roadblocks."
"In these difficult economic times with the myriad of difficulties facing citizens of this country, such as 25% of all Massachusetts drivers being on the road after revocation of insurance, I would think that the Government would have much higher priorities to use this revenue on rather than wasted spending just to harass motorcycle riders," stated B.O.L.T. Secretary Betsy Lister. "
Massachusetts B.O.L.T. is an elite collective of motorcycling activists opposing discrimination against motorcyclists. Known, primarily, for opposition to government-mandated motorcycle helmet laws, B.O.L.T. will lawfully fight discrimination on all fronts, including legislative buildings, courtrooms, and the streets. Membership is limited to proven motorcycling activists chosen as a result of their exemplary actions. More information on Massachusetts B.O.L.T. activities can be viewed on web site.

Filming them all and a Helicopter???  For a safety check?  Bull$hit!!

"After the Ride".....A quick note from Dan Forrest State Director A.B.A.T.E.

by Abate Georgia on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 11:26am
Outstanding! Awesome! Fantastic! Incredible! Unbelievable!
These were just a few of the printable quotes that described the turn out Wednesday the 23rd at the Capitol for the Protest Ride against the Motorcycle Only “Safety” Roadblocks. All of the Speakers carried forth the very same message yet each in different words.
The roadblocks are a violation of our rights and are a pure attempt at profiling. The Savannah Stop had 17 GSP cars, 2 Sheriff’s cars, 1 DOT car, a van filming and photographing every biker and a helicopter. This sounds like a Border Crossing in a communist country and has nothing to do with safety.
This is an example of Government Waste. Having a registration, proof of insurance and an endorsement on our license does make us safe. Loud pipes never killed anyone.
The central point of every speaker’s message was that money needs to be spent on EDUCATION of the driving public to make them aware of motorcycles. Use the media for public service announcements, bill boards, class room training for new drivers. The government DOES NOT need to safety check US. We are aware of how vulnerable we are and we all check our rides on a regular basis. We need protection from the distracted, impaired and inexperienced drivers. This can only be accomplished through EDUCATION not Safety Checkpoints for Motorcycles.
We ask the Georgia State Patrol, The Governors Office on Highway Safety, The Department of Transportation and the Division of Drivers Services to work with A.B.A.T.E. of Georgia to created programs that are designed to really save lives.
On behalf of the entire A.B.A.T.E .of Georgia membership I would like to thank all of the Speakers for their good words. We also wish to thank everyone that took part in this day of Freedom Fighting. A special thanks to Linda Allen our State Legislative Director and the man behind the Facebook updates our Secretary of State, Ned Williams.
Take the time right now to log onto and sign up as a member. Add your voice to ours and let’s keep this first step in a unified community of bikers alive.

A Seriously Lost Cry Baby of Ignoramous Proportions

mikeb302000 Said,
Sebastian, You sound like you’re whistling in the dark. Your glory days are coming to an end. You sense this and it makes you say silly boasting things like “bring it on.”
Obama is definitely not the man I’d hoped he was, but all it’s gonna take is one or two changes on the Supreme Court and a good showing for the Dems in 2012.
Enjoy it while you can.

Over at Snow Flakes In Hell,  Sebastian lays out the truth about the NRA's position against meeting with Obama and he clearly replies that the Newspaper is bias. Then MikeB replys on the blog with what I have posted above. (I'll give you a moment to stop laughing!!)

20 years....  It's been 20 years we have been kicking Gun Grabbers asses. Florida passes "Shall Issue" licensing, more than 2/3rds of the states follow it, including Pennsylvania.
The Clinton signed Assault Weapons ban runs out and is not renewed.
States pass Constitutional Carry, i.e.Arizona, Alaska, Vermont. (More will follow)
SCOTUS McDonald, Heller.  RIGHT of the people to have arms. Will not be overturned.

So what Kool Aid does MikeB drink? His last sentence, "Enjoy it while you can?"  We are only ejnoying that which we should have always had.  We are getting back the swagger of our past, that law abiding folks have the RIGHT to protect themselves. (Especially since a LEO has no obligation to do it) The Tea Party group and it's influence grows. Obama will most likely be a one term president, but he only did it to himself.  The country was shedding jobs when he came in, he concentrated on Health Care. He chose to spend us into a debt that we might never repay, we wanted cuts. His social agenda is and was shut down in the last election, he did his damage. He will be gone.  I say that not knowing who the front runner for the Republicans even is. I don't think it matters, who ever it is will win. We will also take back the Senate.

The difference between now and 20 years ago, IMHO?  The Internet. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other social media, including the basic e mail. People can see, hear and read the truth, and they can decide who is right and who is wrong. It isn't the local newspaper, or the committee man or woman. Sitting at home in your chair, all the facts are literally right at your fingertips. What do the People see?
What do the People choose? They choose the TRUTH. The believe the side with the most facts, the ones with the most thought out reasonable explanation.  The Gun Rights side have it and they have it in monstrous statistical proof.  The Gun Grabbers have emotion, lies and a collaboration of bent facts, only choosing that which fits their jigsaw puzzle of lies.

So MikeB, if you read this, you are on the wrong side, and yes there is a wrong side.  There is freedom, and then there is everything else that is wrong.

So my readers understand, I didn't post this on Sebastians site because MikeB is a Troll to me. He has stated that he thinks that statistically a few women getting raped is better than arming any of them so they could protect themselves.  Since he stated this abomination of a statement, I have refused to visit and debate him and his minions on his blog. I have no time for anyone that codons women ever succumbing to rape.

Was Bush correct all along?

We enter Iraq to rid a dictator. (Or get rid of WMDs).  Free elections occur.  Now other traditional Arab countries are all asking for the same. Iran, Libya, Sudan and others in that area are going towards more freedoms. President Obama seems to be thinking that this building freedom and spreading liberty is a good thing.

Mayor C. Scott Shields Dies

Over at Gil Spencers blog I was saddened to read this early this morning.

C.Scott Shields was a highly regarded, highly recommended NRA approved lawyer who happened to live in Delaware County. I occasionally got his valued advice, or his thoughts on various subjects related to PA Gun laws. He was always willing to share his insight. It might seem mundane, but I had him on my Blackberry speed dial, in case I ever got arrested for representing the NRA, or FOAC, at township meetings. I learned long ago, when I first got licensed to carry a firearm while working at Edelman's Gun Shop, to have a lawyer ready to call. C. Scott Shields was my guy, number 9. I have never had to call him for trouble, and we would occasionally see each other in Media and always were friendly.
I haven't spoken to him in over a year, I regret that already!
My heart goes out to his 3 daughters and the rest of his family.

Carter Scott Shields, RIP

American Idol Top 11 got on Tour!!

Boy I definitely bounce around on topics don't I? One day it's guns, guns, guns.  Then its motorcycles, then baseball....  I am so sorry, I have so many interests.
Well, let's get into the music part of my life.

Last night, if you didn't see it, was one of the best American Idol voting shows EVER.  I kid you not.

Opening is a little Motown number that the top 11 sing, since it's Motown week.  Then out of the stage comes Stevie Wonder.  Sitting behind his keyboard and singing with the Idols.  Great song and excitement. THEN....  Stevie Wonder asks for Steven Tyler, the judge, to come up and everyone starts singing Happy Birthday to him. There is a cake, lit candles and a beautiful picture of Steven that looked like a Peter Max painting.  WOW, Steven and Stevie Wonder are friends, how cool?  Cut to commercial.
Dim the lights, we have the first to folks to choose, and they show that Paul and Steve like WWE Wrestling, and they watch it and wrestle around the house. Ryan announces that both of them are not safe, and out come HULK Hogan in his classic thunder arms pose.  He looks great, and he tells them both they are safe and they are both going on tour.  Then Hulk hits Ryan and send him flying..LOL(Gag)
Hulk rips off his short and says HE is the American Idol.  He looks good at his age, really.
Back to commercial.
Back on Sugarland performs Sticks like Glue, the big hit. The Nettles girl cut her hair and looks OLD, she was so hot in the Bon Jovi video..  Anyway, another commercial and more voting.
Jennifer Hudson then performs, are you feeling all this talent? Grammy, Oscar and now thin and HOT looking, Jennifer Hudson.  I didn't like the song, but she sang it great and looked better. She is a star!!
Bottom 3?
Asian Girl
Mexican Dude and in a shocker
Irish red beard.  (I have names for all of them.)

Asian girl gets saved, and the vote says Irish Red Beard is OUT..  He has to sing for the save..
He starts to sing his song, and RANDY immediately tells him to stop. I mean he got out like 12 bars? WTF??  WHAT?  They are going to use the SAVE..  ALREADY..   Do you believe?  The judges say the people got it wrong. Well, Irish Red Beard almost collapses on stage, he can't breath, he looks pail and he is honestly touched that they saved him.

Rape story number 3. Last one I promise.

Seems fair to me.....

I'm a guy and I think this is fair.  Why this woman changed her story I do not know. But I often wonder how many woman say they are raped and really are not. I bet it is less than 2%. I bet many more woman are raped and never report it.  But if you lie and ruin a mans reputation like this woman did, I think 2 years is fair time.

RAPE and Guns

I was visiting a blog this morning and I was educating some folks on why I hate Rape and how I feel a well trained 100 pound woman can have a level playing field with a physically stronger 250 pound man. One of the people felt that "there is not enough rapes to discount the possibility that a woman might have an accident with a gun.." So, it is, in this guys warped, sick, mind, OK to let some women to be raped because guns are evil??? He thinks that a POSSIBLE accident is worse than a definitive outcome. The world knows that woman get raped, here in the US we have equal rights and allow most people their right to carry, or have in their home, a firearm.
So when people tell me guns are evil I always think of my beautiful 100 pound wife and the way she trained. I sleep better knowing she can now SAFELY defend herself.
So because I have seen the double standard in that bloggers head, I will no longer visit his blog.  He does not respect woman, and would prefer that woman everywhere spread their legs and take their medicine, instead of lawfully and ably defending them self and sending the sick perverted rapist bastard to hell where he belongs.

He is wrong.

Inflation......I shall explain.

Good friends!!

I have a few good friends, a man get's lucky when he has just one.  This post will be about one such great friend!
He knows my bad side, he knows my good side. He sticks with me, I with him.
We spend time riding together, and we both can ride.  He has 135,000 miles on his bike he now rides, and this ain't his first one. He really knows how to ride a bike. He doesn't ride it as much as he dances with it and performs a beautiful ballet. He says he liles that I can ride, good for my ego. He and I love to ride together, we don't need to talk, we need to ride. We need to see the view of that farm country, or bridge, or covered bridge, or water fall, or, you get the idea..
Anyway, we rode yesterday, only 100 miles, maybe more all in, but we never touched a straight road for more than a mile. We picked a place to ride to and we went there. We didn't visit the place, it was just a destination to get to. It wasn't the destination it was the ride.(where did I hear that before?)

So without naming my friend I figured I would place us via photos.

In Virginia before Skyline Drive.

After Skyline drive and 300 miles of fun.

Maryland shore ride.

I wish we could ride together more, he teaches me plenty!

Thanks Bryan!!

SAF Responds To NJ AG (New Jersey just doesn't get it)

I found this article interesting for 2 reasons.

1. It shows the growing power of social media

2. It shows the incredible ignorance of the law by New Jersey

The Second Amendment Foundation posted this response to the New Jersey Attorney General's brief in Muller v. Maenza on their Facebook page.
NJ Attorney General Argues That The Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms Does Not Apply Outside the Home and

That the Public Needs to be Protected From Those Legally Carrying!

On March 16, the New Jersey Attorney General filed its final lower court response in the recently-filed lawsuit challenging New Jersey’s extreme and subjective handgun carry laws.

As in its previous papers, the Attorney General again trashed the Second Amendment, arguing that the right to bear arms does not apply outside the home, and that New Jersey’s carry laws are constitutional and necessary to protect the public from those who legally carry firearms.

The federal lawsuit, filed in November of last year by Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, the Second Amendment Foundation, and six individual plaintiffs, challenges New Jersey’s unconstitutional “justifiable need” standard for issuance of handgun carry permits – a nearly impossible standard to meet that has all but eliminated the right to self defense with a firearm in the Garden State.

“It is now crystal clear that the State of New Jersey has no intention of ever respecting the right to defend yourself with a firearm outside the home, and will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into compliance with the Heller and McDonald decisions,” said ANJRPC President Scott Bach. “With this lawsuit, we intend to do just that, even if we have to go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court,” said Bach.

SAF founder Alan Gottlieb added, “ With the help of our members and supporters we will fund this legal action all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court just like we did with McDonald vs. Chicago. This case will impact states all across the country.”

The case is now submitted for consideration by a U.S. District Court Judge, who could rule as early as September. Appeals are anticipated regardless of the decision.

SAF will keep you apprised of major case developments as they occur. Please watch for future alerts.

House Votes to Defund National Public Radio

Prayers are answered but it will most likely be going no where.

Thank you to my elected officials!!!   To the Republican that voted PRESENT, you are a coward.

Even as Georgia police prepared to launch the nation’s first federally-funded motorcycle-only checkpoints during Daytona Bike Week, lawmakers in Washington were taking steps to cut federal funding for the controversial practice.

Wisconsin Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner, Paul Ryan and Tom Petri introduced House Resolution 904 on March 3rd that would prohibit the secretary of transportation from providing funds to state and local governments for the use of motorcycle-only traffic checkpoints.

“The first step in motorcycle crash prevention should be rider education and increased awareness. Taxpayer money should not be spent on helmet checkpoints that do not prevent crashes," Petri said in a news release. "Also, it's outrageously intrusive. Nobody is suggesting pulling cars off the road for unscheduled inspections, so why are motorcycle riders being harassed?"

“We stand in solidarity against the unconstitutional use of motorcycle-only checkpoints being implemented in Georgia, and may be coming to your state soon,” said Escondido Paul, National Lt. Commander of the US Defenders, in issuing a Call To Action (CTA) urging all motorcyclists to contact their federal officials to “solicit their support against grant money being used by the Federal Government to induce other States to participate in such discriminatory actions!”

In related news, bills have been recently introduced in New Hampshire (HB 148) and California (AB 1047) to prohibit any state law enforcement agency from accepting federal funding to establish motorcycle-only roadside checkpoints.

Motorcycle riders across the country are anxiously awaiting a decision from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York which they hope will declare New York’s “motorcycle only” roadblocks to be unconstitutional. The so-called “safety checkpoints”, which target well-known motorcycle events, force motorcyclists to leave the roadway, regardless of any wrongdoing, and have their persons and property inspected for equipment violations, proper paperwork, DUI and stolen VIN numbers. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) is now providing Federal funding for law enforcement to conduct such motorcycle-only checkpoints nationwide despite objections raised by members of Congress and legal challenges from the biker community.

The New York lawsuit is the first to challenge the constitutionality of motorcycle checkpoints. The plaintiffs are being represented by Proner & Proner, led by N.Y. Aid to Injured Motorcyclists (A.I.M.) Attorney Mitch Proner, a motorcycle-riding lawyer who has a long history of doing “pro bono” (free) legal work to protect the rights of motorcyclists. The Proner law firm commenced the lawsuit on behalf of four motorcyclists who were detained at two separate checkpoints, as well as representing the interests of ABATE of New York and the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM).

The checkpoints in question are funded by a grant from the New York Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the troopers who work them are paid overtime. Although the stated purpose of the checkpoints is to promote safety, the majority of the more than a thousand tickets which were issued during the first year of the checkpoints had nothing to do with safety and instead focused on non-safety violations such as loud pipes. The written guidelines for the checkpoints specifically state that one of the purposes of the checkpoints is to look for stolen and forged VINs and the police readily admit that they often have undercover members of their gang and auto theft units working the checkpoints looking for signs of criminal activity.

According to Proner, the Supreme Court of the United States has repeatedly made it clear that any roadway checkpoint whose primary purpose is general crime control constitutes an unreasonable search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment and is presumptively unconstitutional. Notwithstanding that fact, the progress reports which the police prepared on the checkpoints specifically state that the grant funds are used “for overtime for intelligence gathering and the subsequent criminal and traffic enforcement.” The police admit that the checkpoints, which focus only on equipment violations and forged and stolen VINs, do not address any of the major causes of motorcycle accidents such as reckless driving, driver inattentiveness and alcohol impairment.

The case, Wagner et al. v. The County of Schenectady, et al. could wind up in the U.S. Supreme Court. The future of motorcyclists’ rights hangs in the balance.

Gun sales highest ever

Gun sales are through the roof and I think it is our opponents that deserve a shout out.

So Tucson made people run out an get a gun, or was it the talk of possible gun control people. Shumer? You listening?  Bloomberg?  You listening?  Helmke?  If gun sales go through the roof and Obama says nothing, can we keep our extended magazines?
The Gun Grabbers lose even more when they try to win!  WOW, just WOW!

Repercussions for a Borough nearby.

So son #2 and I own a car that son#2 drives mostly. The car is an old beater that has served my family well for many years. I am thinking the engine has over 130,000 miles on it. So enough about the car, let's talk about local borough stupidity IMHO.

Son #2 gets a parking ticket in said borough, I think it was initially 10 bucks. Of course, with his busy schedule of partying and sleeping late he doesn't get around to paying it. The ticket was placed on the car at 1:00 AM in the morning for parking to close to a corner. His band was playing in a local club. No biggy right?  Well, in the mail about a month ago I, and he, get a letter saying all those nasty things about "since we didn't pay it was now 65 dollars, blah, blah, blah. I give the paperwork to my son, tell him 10 is now 65 and I go on my way.

Yesterday, and I shit you not, the borough sent 2 constables to my house 25 miles away, to ARREST either me or my son to get their money. Because the car has both our names on it, we are both subject to arrest.  Now you should know that no one was home at the time, so what do they do?  They leave a HUGE cardboard typed up nasty script taped to my door, right in plain site.

So what do I do now?  You might think this is funny, as I do, but I will get my pound of flesh!
The ticket is now paid, and I am no longer subject to arrest. But that tiny borough will ultimately lose. These kind of tactics backfire. I have openly decided to NEVER spend a dime in any business in their borough, I am also taking the time to e mail any businesses I find in the borough using the Internet and sending them this story. If ever given the opportunity to shop for placement of an office or location for my business, it will not be in this borough. The borough chamber of commerce will be copied, the Rotary club, the Lions club and the Optimists clubs will all be copied. I have openly copied my extensive distribution list of Patriot riders, HOG members and Military Veterans. Some will laugh at my suggestion, some will ignore, but a few??  And all I need is a few to say, "Let's stay out of West Chester Borough!"

West Chester Borough is now on the dannytheman won't spend a dime list!!
West Chester borough?  Not ...

It's the little things

I got to take the bike to work today. 20 miles there and 30 miles home.  I needed it, I needed it bad.  BUT, I wore the wrong glves this morning. It was 38 degrees and I thought for the short ride I could handle the ride with my light gloves.  WRONG!!  Fingers and hands were numb from cold when I got to office. The kind of cold that hurt, BAD.  When I got into the office the heat was up and then it really got bad, the pain increased and the throbbing started. Tough way to start the day. I was fine about an hour later. You can also bet I grabbed the better gloves, which by the way, were in my saddle bag the whole time!! The ride home was nicer to the hands, and I extended the ride about 10 miles traveling through Valley Forge Historic Park and the Valley Forge area.
I will ride the bike again tomorrow, but I will start with the right gloves.

Chester County Friends of NRA Dinner!

Last evening my wife and I attended, for the first time, a NRA-ILA dinner. It was in Kennet Square, PA and we got there a bit late. We met another couple there and they were early and saved us a couple seats. It is a serious charity fund raiser to support Youth shooting and I was in a charitable mood. Live auction items, silent auction items and various rip ticket fund raising methods were used to part me from my wallet and credit card.  I didn't WIN any prizes, but we sure tried to. I loved the Colt 45 that they had for sale, it was named gun of the year, and my first 20 bucks went to try to win that. Then I bought another 20 of rip tickets and my wife and I dropped them in the appropriate buckets to try to win something.Nope, natta, zilch!!

But the silent auction caught my eye with some things I saw. There was a Buck knife there that caught my interest. I had given my good knife to son #2 when he advised me he lost his, and since he lives in Philly, I wanted him to have one. So I was in the market for a new one. This one fit the bill nicely. Bid 85 bucks and sit back down, but wait, there is a nice little single gun travel case, let me throw 40 bucks on it. The wife and I were sitting close to the silent auction table and when either of us stood up we checked the list. Darn if somebody raised me up 5 dollars for that knife.  So I go add 10, now in for 100 dollars. But the case is now listed at 45, I'll add 5 more and make it 50. Someone will out bid that.  Nope, Natta, zilch. I am the proud owner of a new knife and single gun case for 150 bucks.  More on this later.

My wife and I were hungry and food was serving, they had nice fresh rolls to start, then a pretty nice salad. I, of course, ate all the things my wife doesn't like from her plate.  Next was the buffet line, and our table got called early. So we had some good selections and I love a buffet. Meatballs, chicken, veggie mix, potatoes and rigatoni mix. But add to that a carving station with some roast beef cut in huge slices. (With horseradish for me) I had quite a plateful!  While chowing down we got to hear some people who won some items and listened to varied speeches. The food was OK, veggies were mushy but the roast beef was tender! So I would score the food a "C+".  Of course desert was cakes, pies, cookies and ice cream. All good, but I only sampled the lemon cheese cake. Desert gets an "A".

The live auction begins and they bring in a very good auctioneer, the real deal.  I had my eye on a couple items and if the price was right I would bid in. BUT, it wasn't happening, the bidding went really high.  I later come to find out some of these once a year offerings have some serious collecting value. Now I understood why some of it went for so much! But it was getting late and we decided to leave before every live auction item was sold, it was obvious to us that we were not going to spend 300 to 500 dollars for a deer painting. So off we went to home.

Now back at home I have to check my purchases and see what they normally sell for. I guess I needed to confirm my purchases, and I don't know why I needed to do this, but right to Amazon to look at my choices.
The knife I buy, and pay 106.00 for(sales tax)?  Sells new for, best I could find $155.00, the Single Gun case I got for 53.00(3 bucks in sales tax)sells for, best price new was 71 bucks. Ding, ding, ding!  A WINNER!!
So I got a couple things I wanted (versus needed)and saved abut 70 dollars while doing it. The single gun case I can use for traveling. I needed something to pack and lock my pistol in for packing at the airport. This little thing is small and cushiony, should protect and lock my pistol in very nicely in my checked luggage.
With my Utah and Florida licenses, added to my PA LTCF, I can jet around many more states and feel good that I can protect myself when there. My new job will have me traveling a bit more, soit seems like good timing!

Anyway, I hope you liked my review,  I strongly recommend that you all attend one of these in your area, you will enjoy it and get to see how truly normal gun owners and NRA member are. To find a Friend of NRA dinner in your area see the link below!

Baseball season 2011, Umpires point of view

My son's baseball league had it's Umpire Clinic last night. As one of the volunteer umpires for the league I got to teach some of the coaches the rules of the game. It should surprise no one that many coaches do not understand the rules of baseball. What is a catch, what is a strike and what is speeding up play? So a couple of good Umpires put on a clinic and show them what they need to know. Last night I got to quickly go over Obstruction and Interference. I said quickly because the other speaker Umpire took an incredible amount of time, almost an hour, going over Field Umpire positions.
I got to spend some time with some coaches one on one and they all have some tough questions. They want answers to something that happened 2 or 3 years ago, of which I wasn't there, for me to give a blessing that another umpire was wrong.  They found out I won't do that. In baseball, train wrecks happen. Umpires are forced to make the call as best as they see it. Judgment calls happen.
I have some hard rules that I follow at the Little League level.
  1. If any kid is hurt, dead ball, all play stops.  I don't care about anything other than the kids health. These are 10, 11 and 12 year old kids for God's sake. The kids safety is the most important part of baseball.
  2. I will never over rule my partner. Now that being said, I also will not have a Dad come out of the stands to "help me" call outs at first. I would rather call the whole game alone, which means running a great deal more and a ton of more responsibility, than having a guy not in tune with me.
  3. Never punch a kid out on a called Third Strike. Call the first strike the same as the third. It's about the kids, not the Umpire.
  4. If lightning is in the area, get the kids in the dug out. Please see number 1. Fencing, foul poles and other things surrounding a baseball field are lightning magnets.
Know the rules.  Umpires make mistakes, untrained umpires make many of them.
Rules you should know!
Strike Zone, Infield Fly, Obstruction, Interference and what is a Catch. If all baseball fans knew these, there would be less shouting to the Umpires.  Not that I don't cherish your opinions!

More than 60,000 Ohio Right-to-Carry permits issued in 2010

WOW, just WOW!! This is full of WIN!!

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has issued a report indicating that more than 60,000 concealed carry licenses were issued in Ohio in 2010.
According to statistics reported to the Attorney General's office, county sheriffs in Ohio issued 47,337 new licenses and 13,544 renewal licenses in 2010. The number of new licenses was the second highest since licenses were first issued in 2004.
"Since 2004, nearly a quarter of a million Ohioans have received a concealed carry license. My office remains committed to working with county sheriffs in helping eligible Ohioans exercise their rights under the Concealed Carry Law," DeWine said.
The Attorney General's Office compiles an annual report as required by law about the number of licenses issued each year. Each sheriff must report concealed handgun license statistics quarterly to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission within the Ohio Attorney General's Office.

Other Gun Grabber blogs

I started visiting some gun grabber blogs recently. I was not surprised that their views are different than mine, what caught me by surprise was how much different they are. I try to restrain myself and ask questions of them.  They respond without answering but taking some minuscule section of my answer and expounding on it and making a mountain out of a mile hill!  It is quite frustrating. But I have been keeping an open mind and doing my best to answer politely and efficiently.
I really don't know why I did this, and I could easily see me stopping. They really do not get the basic understanding of the word freedom and what it means here in America. They are happy to be sheep, being told what to do with the ALL POWERFUL, ALL KNOWING Government.
I was a government official and I had to quit, I didn't have the stomach for it. It is ugly and I do not trust those who can stay with it.

Editorial Control on Gun Grabbers site? Mikeb302000

Updated on Sat. Morning.  Mikeb302000 has posted both of my comments. So I now stand corrected.
Mikeb302000 edits fair remarks. I had heard he was one that could be leveled with, but I found out differently!  He is against freedom, he is a NANNY state supporter and he needs to be ignored!

So let me jump in with a couple thoughts and questions. If I happen to have a home state license, and a Utah license, along with a Florida license, I can legally carry in over 2/3rds of the "United" states. So I get run through finger prints, pictures and background checks from 3 separate locations. I took the Utah class, passed the Florida test by being a fully trained military Veteran, honorably discharged. So all that being said, and all that being done, do I understand that you still agree with the few states left that will ban me from carrying my self protection weapon? If I go accidentally to NY, I would be a Felon? NJ, Mass, CT... Same. You agree with that? Really? So in the "United" States you are saying that a now recognized right is somehow changed because of lines on a map. That, even though I have over 30 years of lawful compliance, you would be ok with me being charged a felony if I were to accidentally be caught carrying across a non approved state line? Lets discuss the hypocrisy of this, please.

Dannytheman, Thanks for coming by and for leaving a comment. As a responsible gun owner with all your experience, would you mind telling us how this could ever happen. "If I go accidentally to NY." Don't you choose where you go? Aren't you in total control of your movements? Do you believe in "accidental" discharges of the gun too? Even the pro-gun guys around here agree there's no such thing, it's "negligence." I'd say that goes even more for crossing state lines. You're problem is twofold, I'm guessing here. You hate being told what you can and cannot do with your guns and you hate to be inconvienced. I oppose all the new laws which make concealed carry easier. I think the strictest standards of "may issue" should be inforced combined with increased mental health screening. Violent misdemeanors should be a disqualifier, and no reciprocity. My way, you'd have a safer country. You'd screen out many people who are not responsible enough to handle guns but who are not criminal enough to go all the way and break gun laws outright.

I replied politely to Mike, and suggested that many people accidentally take a wrong exit or on-off ramp and end up in another State.  I pointed out NJ bridges as an example and asked how you were supposed to turn around on a bridge? I also showed him my routine as I was traversing via Motorcycle to Reston, VA. I did a pull off, unholster, unload and separate the magazine and ammo from the weapon. Placing them in opposite saddlebags. Then after driving through MD and DC along 495, I pull back over at the VA line and handle my weapon and ammo again. He mentions negligent discharge, and I asked him which method of transport was more apt for it. Keeping the gun on my hip, or stopping to unload and then again to load again.
But he is right about something he wrote, I hate being inconvenienced. But only because he doesn't see the man, he only sees the object, the gun.  I explain to him my history, my experience, my years of never having a ND, he doesn't care. All he sees is the gun, but I need them to see the man, the woman and explore their reasons and their history.
BTW Mike, we have now 43 Co Sponsors of HR-822. A Bipartisan resolution that includes folks from CA and NY.

Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR) are raking in massive salaries

Opinion piece I happen to agree with wholeheartedly.

I do not want my tax dollars going here, do you???  Let them compete.
Tax cuts can start here.

Campus carry going strong

Try this on for size.  Columbine gun-free zone, New York City pizza shop gun-free zone, Luby's Cafeteria gun-free zone, Amish school in Pennsylvania gun-free zone and now Virginia Tech gun-free zone.
Now we have some movement to allow law abiding, legally licensed, 21 year old or older, adults, to lawfully carry their self protection weapon onto college campuses. There are many of us in the gun rights side of things that agree that cowards who are metally deranged look forthe easiest targets, and that would be at schools and places their warped heads ca confirm are Gun Free areas. Law Abiding folks follow the law, so we make laws that on the outside look good. "It is against the law to bring a gun into a school," many people say this makes sense.  But comm sense is not how mentally deranged individuals think. They are criminals and don't pay attention to the laws. So what do I see?  I see teachers capable of having a weapon at school to protect my kids. I see college kids over 21, about 50% right, having weapons. Now the mentally deranged cowards do not know who, or if, someone has a gun and can take them out and ruin their attempt at historic carnage. If I were the State of PA head of education I would be asking some teachers and administrators to spend a teachers in service day at NRA certified gun safety and tactical training, and publicizing it. Only those teachers who wish to go would attend.  As the word spread each year the classes would grow. (Everyone I see who learns to shoot, the right way, always enjoys it as displayed by a huge mouth spreading grin)

Now some college Presidents don't agree with me, and they fear disaster. But they will lose and be proven wrong. The Gun Grabbers always scream disaster and it never occurs, right?

Texas gets it right..

American Idol Top 12, I mean 13.

The best group of singers I have ever seen!!!!!   I want you to watch, I want you to tune in, you will not be disappointed. I watched all the boys 12, and all the girls, 12, and saw the people vote, 40 million people BTW, on who their favorites were. Thy got to choose 10, then the judges saved 3 more. Only one I thought they missed! The kid with the glasses, the karaoke singer didn't make it.  He should have.  But other than him, my family agreed with the choices.

We are winning!!!!! Wyoming now, Colorado later. Yeah BABY!

Wyoming becomes fourth state to respect Right-to-Carry without permit.(Alaska, Vermont and Arizona)

Wyoming on Wednesday became the fourth state to allow citizens to carry concealed guns without a permit, with Gov. Matt Mead signing a bill into law as several other states considered similar action.

The whole story here....

Colorado: Right-to-Carry without permit receives preliminary approval

A bill that would allow carrying of concealed weapons without a permit gained preliminary approval in the House on Tuesday. Its sponsor, state Rep. Chris Holbert, R Parker, touted it as a way for citizens to spare the $152 fee to obtain a concealed weapon permit and the requisite procedure of applying for the permit at county sheriffs' offices, which are authorized to issue them.
Utah: Permitless carry advances

A House committee voted to approve a bill Tuesday that would allow Utahns to carry a loaded, concealed weapon without a permit.
