Little League World Series 2011

Congrats goes out to a fine California team, who defeated Japan 2 to 1. The game ended with a walk off single in the bottom of the 6th. Williamsport, Pa, the home of the LLWS is very happy since they had a record busting attendance of over 415,000 people in the 2 weeks of International and National baseball games. The attendance was boosted with the surprise arrival of a local PA team whose home league was only 20 miles west of Williamsport, in Lock Haven, PA.
The weather and threatening hurricane dampened the attendance of the game final but for you and I we can always go to ESPN3 on the Internet and stream the game and see it in it's entirety.

Arrested for Riding Bike to School

Sometimes I read stuff and think I and other readers are being punked!!! Check this story out.

Ride your bike 5 to 7 minutes to school

I rode my bike to school everyday, from 2nd grade to 8th grade. Only during heavy snow did I walk. I even came home for lunch most days, because I could ride!
So a cop doesn't like it, he goes to child services and woman is told if she lets her kids ride, she will possibly lose the child?  WTF???

Hurricane News

So what else is there in the world?  Somehow I got my truck, my wife's crossover vehicle, my tractor, my Harley, the snow blower, the fertilizer spreader, 6 sleds, 18 lawn chairs, and the trash cans and recycle bins all into the garage. I even amaze myself sometime.  (Pausing for the applause....Thank you, thank you!!!)

I am sad I did not get to cut the grass, having to climb up ladders and clear out gutters takes time and effort. It seems to me that 30 foot up seems higher to me now at 54 than it did when I was 25. I am buying the Gutter Helmet system next spring, write that down.

The storm has already been downgraded. Winds will not hit much over 50 MPH, so that is much better than 75. I have a 125 foot high tree about 40 feet out my back yard, and every wind storm that comes scares me to death. I made the mistake of telling my wife, and now she is scared more than me.

I tested the ham gear, I am ready to go! We have water, food, generator, batteries charged(big suckers too) and now we wait!!

DOJ and Guitarwalker....

New Scandal at DoJ as Illegal Guitars End Up In Hands of Mexican Drug Lords.

As the owner of a Gibson guitar or two, I really have to worry that the US Government has the time to raid a business that builds what the people want! I want to think that our government truly goes after bad guys. But I am lately amazed at their complete stupidity!!!!

Just so you know, the CEO of Gibson Guitar Company is a HUGE Republican donator.

  The true story here

It isn't just Gibson that is sweating. Musicians who play vintage guitars and other instruments made of environmentally protected materials are worried the authorities may be coming for them next.

If you are the lucky owner of a 1920s Martin guitar, it may well be made, in part, of Brazilian rosewood. Cross an international border with an instrument made of that now-restricted wood, and you better have correct and complete documentation proving the age of the instrument. Otherwise, you could lose it to a zealous customs agent—not to mention face fines and prosecution.

UhOh, I own a Martin also!!  Need to hide my safe combination!

Interesting DUI Checkpoint News!

In California if you can believe that.....

Now to the 2 or 3 regular readers I have, you know how much against DUI Roadblocks, or roadblocks of any kind I am.  The story regurgitates what I have said in my posts many times.
The drunk-driving (DUI) roadblocks catch comparatively few drunk drivers, so officers often focus on issuing as many tickets as possible for minor violations while cars are stopped.
I still will never understand how the SCOTUS has upheld this process. I have run through 2 of them myself. The first one I made a turn to an access road before the checkpoint. (Coincidentally, a street light was out on that turn, hmmmm?") The second time I went through it and the YOUNG officer approached and asked me to roll down the window, I rolled it down about 3 inches.  "Yes Officer?" "Can you roll the window down, sir? "I can hear you just fine, Officer."  Have you been drinking, sir? "I don't drink, Officer, are you looking for a fugitive?"
No sir, sobriety checkpoint, he says. "Have a nice overtime check Officer"! Go home Sir!!

Legal Aspects of DUI Checkpoints

The states where DUI checkpoints are still legally unrecognized include Texas, Wisconsin, Idaho, Michigan, Oregon, Wyoming, Rhode, Alaska, Washington, Minnesota, Island, Montana and Iowa. According to these states the DUI checkpoints are not allowed under the law therefore, the checkpoints could not be formed. The DUI checkpoints are recognized in the states where there is legal cover available to such checkpoints. In states where the DUI checkpoints are legal, these are supposed to follow some set of rules and regulations directed by the Supreme Court in 1990. The rules categorically narrate the processes for setting up, working and maintaining the DUI checkpoints. The rules debar the law enforcement authorities to form biased reports against the suspected drivers tested at checkpoints. The mandate of these checkpoints is to simply point out the drivers under influence of intoxicated substances. However the noises for digression of the authorities from their mandate are often heard loud.

Perception!!

I woke this morning and it started as I was making the coffee. The talking heads on the TV news were all talking about the President of the US taking a vacation. Some were saying that it was incredibly arrogant for him to do so, and the other one was stipulating the similar style of Jimmy Carter.

Me??   I say lay off the vacation thing. He isn't unemployed, he is a man with 2 children and he needs a break occasionally, too.  I get so frustrated when people make it seem like he has to be in Washington DC to get any info.  I work from home occasionally now. I have a Iphone, Internet, VPN access and other connections to the ENTIRE world, why wouldn't the POTUS? I also do not care if he is golfing on weekends, many people do that. Do we elect a POTUS with the understanding that he, or she, have to work 7 days weeks and 24 hours a day?  Really?  Really, really??

You might ask, why am I defending President Obama and his vacation? Because he needs some people who do not agree with his ideological positions to defend his right to be a husband and father. His children still need their dad, his wife still wants to be with her husband. Who cares where he goes, he obviously can not rent a small house in Myrtle Beach, or Wildwood for security reasons.

Stick to the issues everyone, God knows he has plenty of those!  Let the man/husband/father alone and have what is to most of us, a little down time with his family, it is the human/morale thing to do.

This is my Motorcycle Safety Plan

Safety is KEY!!! And I agree

Both of the motorcycle experts we spoke with agree that excessive speed and inexperience are the top two most common factors that contribute to crashes.
And adding me makes 3 safety experts!!!

In Pennsylvania motorcycle safety classes are FREE.....   That's right FREE!!
If you are a licensed motorcycle rider (With the endorsement on your drivers license) you pay an additional 5 dollars every 4 years when you renew your drivers license. That 5 dollars goes into a pool of money for Motorcycle Safety use.  I highly recommend these classes. As an example of how much I recommend these classes I take the Experienced Riders Course every year. So I have had over 10 of them!

Go to here and sign yourself up for a class.

Even if you have never ridden a day in your life you can get training, on their bikes, and get safe and licensed!

Promoted??? ATF Promotes Gunwalker Supervisors

I am not kidding you one little bit

Three ATF supervisors involved with Fast and Furious have been rewarded for “the skills and abilities they have demonstrated throughout their careers.”

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and former state Attorney General, today responded to reports that key officials who oversaw the “Fast and Furious” gun-walking operation have been promoted to new positions within the Justice Department in Washington:

“Until Attorney General Holder and Justice Department officials come clean on all alleged gun-walking operations, including a detailed response to allegations of a Texas-based scheme, it is inconceivable to reward those who spearheaded this disastrous operation with cushy desks in Washington.”

Last week Sen. Cornyn sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder demanding answers following recent press reports of alleged Texas-based “gun-walking” programs similar to the “Fast and Furious” operation currently being investigated by Congressional lawmakers.

Get the duct tape for your head!!!

Gun Rights Win in Florida: State Law Will Soon End Local Firearms Restrictions

Read Buck Sexton article here!!

This is how it should be.  If the State claims or grants preemption over a law then the lower government bodies must follow it OR face monetary forfeiture policies.  We have some town in PA that have illegally placed laws on the book in a complete slap to the State government.  Cell Phone ordinances, Gun Powder Ordinances?  Look these up on just Lower Chichester, PA.  The reason why the commissioners of Lower Chichester get away with these illegal laws is because there is no penalty for making up their own. So a resident, or citizen would have to legally defend him/herself from these critters of ignorance while THEY(the local government) hide behind the "can't be sued" position.

Now in Florida an individual can be sued!  As fast as that law was passed, townships were dropping their illegal ordinances. WHY?  Because as one elected official stated, he could get fined or lose his job.

This is a great law, and needs to get started here in Pennsylvania!!!  It would do away with all this worthless Lost and Stolen crap that the anti gunners have been marching out!
Power to the people, make the elected officials fiscally responsible for their decision if they go directly against the Constitution or State law!

Gun crimes drop at Virginia bars and restaurants

In Virginia the truth happens again!!!

Virginia passed the law early this year and as usual, with no proof at all mind you, the anti gun crowd again declared their would be wild west shootout in all the bars and food serving establishment that served booze.  The truth??  Nothing happened and incidents of occurrences went down over 5% .

Pennsylvania has always allowed people legally licensed to carry in bars and food places that serve booze, so there is plenty of history to examine for Virginia. But the anti gun group use the same old crap each time. Each time they say there will be blood in the streets they are wrong, which slowly erodes any other argument they may have. They can't get it.

Appletini Anyone??

Brake Pad installation.

I have to admit I was AMAZED yesterday.  My oldest son came over to put no brake pads on his car. With my hydraulic jack and 2 jack stands we got his front disc brakes changed out in under 90 minutes. 60 minutes for the one side, and 30 for the second. Total cost for new front brakes installed?  $26.95
Tools needed? 1 1/2 inch drive ratchet with number 14 socket on it.
It was incredibly simple!  Almost idiot proof!  We rotated the tires also!

Price quoted at car dealers? $250.00.  Money saved $223.05.
Time spent with son?  Priceless!

Spencer: Mom caught in ‘bureaucratic nightmare’

Gil Spencer really gets it . Look at this travesty!!

I could see me falling into the same trap. People that have never been out of work don't know how the system works and it's stack against those attempting to not suck of the State Teet!
Our elected officials need to get their collective heads out of theirs asses and work to make sure people who try get recognized, not paralyzed  by bureaucratic CRAP!!

U.S. Attorney's Office Rejects Family of Murdered Border Patrol Agent as Crime Victims Read

Controversial!!!!!!

Fast and Furious Slap on the face to the family of Border Patrol Agent and Veteran Brian Terry!

Under the federal Crime Victims Rights Act, the Terry family would have the right to confer with prosecutors and speak at Avila's sentencing. Some speculate that the U.S. Attorney's Office may cut a deal with Avila in exchange for information to be used against his associates. That deal could mean little or no jail time, and a controversial sentencing day in the courtroom. Having the Terry family fight that deal, could further embarrass and complicate Burke's case.

UPDATED!!!!  Read this too!!
To tell these people they’re not crime victims goes beyond the insensitive (and aren’t all you liberals supposed to be “sensitive) to the ludicrous. My lord people at what point do we all wake up, look around and start screaming at the top of our lungs about what this country has become. This is beyond stupid. It’s beyond insulting.
I really have no words for what this actually is, beyond one more example, if we really needed it, that it’s time for a top-to-bottom house cleaning in DC. Unfortunately, this pimple on an abcess Burke is low level enough he’ll probably survive any changes anyway.

Let's Talk EZ Pass

Can we have a gentle moment talking about EZ Pass?  EZ Pass for those not from the eastern states is the electronic device that lets you flow through toll roads and make better time by not having to stop and use cash. I was a very early adopter.  I love zooming through, or not having to dig into my pockets as I am driving. I have been on my motorcycle many times and had to put my feet down in the toll lane which is slick as ice in February!!  So I have an individual device for the bike and one for the truck. The reason I wanted to write this story is to openly discuss their business model.
My EZ Pass is linked to a credit card. When the device gets to below 10 dollars, the system auto charges me 35 more dollars. I find the convenience beneficial and I tend to look at it as a good value.  Here comes the BUT.....
BUT, now that I have 2 devices the powers that be at EZ Pass PA have decided that I should be charged 70 dollars each time I go below 10 dollars, get it.  35 for the truck, and 35 for the bike. So if I add the car to the program, I have confirmed that they will increase the renewal to 105 dollars for hitting the 10 dollar threshold, you all with me?  So my view of this is simple.  I am one person who has access to 3 vehicles. Their view is different. 35 bucks per vehicle. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to keep the renewal at 35 dollars for all 3 of my vehicles, I can't drive them all at the same time, and if I could, why should it matter, when it hits 10, bang me for 35, right?

So for now, I have EZ Pass in the truck and on the bike, and I love it, truly.  But adding my wife or any other vehicle is restrictive. I don't mind EZ Pass sitting on my 35-45 dollars, because I see a time value to that money! But I have other things I could do with an extra 115 dollars, see what I mean?

But I am all for modern convenience and the loss of patronage jobs that are the toll takers of this world.

Oh, what I failed to mention is that on some of these toll roads I pay less for the tolls on my bike.  I like that motivation. I think it should be more than the general 10%, but it's something. If they made it more they would spur more people to use motorcycles that tend to get better gas mileage and do not chew up the roads since they tend to be under 1000 pounds including the rider.

Rebels WITH a Cause

I know this to be true!!!! Please read the entire story .

I have ridden for many years, and the Harley folks are by far the most generous group of bikers I have ever met!  I must also give a shout out the Honda Gold Wing group for coming in a distant second.
My own Harley chapter has over the last 5 years given out over $30K in charity dollars raised by dues, poker runs and chili contests.  Where are the Victory boys?  Where are the BMW boys??
Harley is more than a bike or a brand, it is a lifestyle!  A lifestyle of generosity and caring for children and wounded soldiers, fireman and LEO's.  Next time you hear my loud pipes, think of this story!!

And in its 30-year association with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Harley-Davidson has raised more than $76 million for the charity.

In three years, the Legends Ride has raised more than $150,000.

lunch with Mayor Mark Carstensen. Cost is $161.25, and last year's ride collected more than $10,000 for the fire department.

West Coast Thunder has donated more than $350,000 to the Riverside National Cemetery.

Kyle Petty Ride.To date, the rides have raised more than $14 million for Victory Junction and other charities, and more than 7,200 children have attended the camp free of charge.

Gunwalker Update

The DEA responds to culpability in Fast and Furious.

And even the Huff Post is acknowledging the connections to Barry.

I am now thinking that this could be perfect for the coming election year. So the government is above the law?

Quick 2 Day Weekend!

Let it be known I do not lie when I say I am always on the run doing something! My weekend was another perfect example of the diversity of my life. I already posted about driving to Cape May Court House on Saturday for a cousins 60th birthday party. So let me finish that off by saying I got home close to midnight and spent the day out in the heat and humidity all day! Nice time, but tiring.

So now we move into Sunday. My number 1 sons has a beautiful girlfriend named Andrea. Her dads birthday was yesterday and we all met to celebrate at a dock bar on the Delaware River in Essington, PA. More heat and humidity reigned supreme. The big addition to the story was that 2 of my #1 sons band mates from Modern Bliss were playing an acoustic guitar show there.

My wife, sons #3 and 4 joined in to the fun. The bonus was that they had all you can eat crabs there. Did I mention it was HOT and HUMID??  97 degrees and humidity running into 110%, and it got worse after a brief rain shower.  But the music was good the song choices were better. My son, his girlfriends dad all took a shot on the stage to play some guitar and sing a little. (I'm thinking this guy is loving my super musically talented son, with piano, guitar and drums all in his wheel house.)
The boys kept asking me to join them on stage!  I refused!  No pay, no play!!  LOL
Pictures below of the boys.   Stage left to tight)Devin, Mike and Shawn.

On the Way To Cape May!!! Court House.....

Relax bitches!!   Cape May Court House** is a town, but I am going to the town to visit family. No jail for me today. My cousin is having a surprise 60th birthday party and I am heading down there.  I am picking up my sister and off we will go.  My sister doesn't get out much, she thought Cape May was 4 hours away!!  Should be tad under 2 hours with Rt. 55 now being 65 MPH. I don't go there often, longest I was there was in Boot Camp for the U.S. Coast Guard.

So off into ANTI Gun, PRO motorcycle helmet NANNY state of NJ.  I will only pay tolls today, and will not spend any money there. I truly despise the Garden State.  But Cape May is a historic home gem, I am forced to admit.

**Cape May Court House is a census-designated place and unincorporated area located within Middle Township, in Cape May County, New Jersey. It is part of the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the United States 2000 Census, the CDP population was 4,704. It is the county seat of Cape May County and serves as the principal administrative hub for the township.
Cape Regional Medical Center is located at 2 Stone Harbor Boulevard in Cape May Court House, and is the only hospital in Cape May County. The Cape May County Park and Zoo is also located in Cape May Court House.

On The Way To Cape May Lyrics

You Looked So Very Pretty, When We Met In Ocean City,
like Someone, Oh, So Easy To Adore.
i Sang This Little Ditty, On Our Way To Ocean City,
heading South Along New Jersey's Shore.

on The Way To Cape May,
i Fell In Love With You.
on The Way To Cape May,
i Saw My Dreams Come True.

i Was Taken By Your Smile,
as We Drifted By Sea Isle.
my Heart Was Really Gone
when We Reached Avalon.

on The Way To Cape May,
stone Harbor's Skies Were Blue.
we Were Naming The Day When Wildwood Came In View.

if You're Gonna Be My Spouse,
we'd Better Head For That Court House
on The Way To Cape May,
on The Way To Cape May.

I Want You to Notice (Holder Must Go)

I really want you all to keep this disaster in your mind.

Even the Huffington Post is getting to understand the impact of this.  I remember Watergate, and trust me, no one died!!  50+ people have died because of the ATF led Fast and Furious gun running fiasco!

Happy Birthday to the US Coast Guard!!

Semper paratus!!

On August 4, 1790, President George Washington put pen to paper and created the Revenue Cutter Service. That service of “a few armed vessels, judiciously stationed at the entrances of our ports, might at a small expense be made useful sentinels of the laws” has grown into America’s maritime first responder. For 221 years, the United States Coast Guard has protected Americans on the sea, protected America from threats delivered by sea and protected the sea itself. As the only military service with the ability to enforce laws within our borders and the only law enforcement agency authorized to enforce them outside our borders, the Coast Guard has evolved from its early beginnings but perhaps never so much as it has over the past decade. As America prepares to recognize the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Coast Guard men and women are deployed throughout the world sharing their expertise in border protection, drug interdiction and counter-terrorism with our allies while their Shipmates stand a taut watch protecting the homeland.
“Every day I am sustained by the enthusiasm, excitement and pride of being a member of our Service,” said Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Bob Papp in his annual Coast Guard Day address. “As we celebrate Coast Guard Day, I encourage the entire Coast Guard Family – active, reserve, civilian, retired, auxiliary and contractors – to take a moment and honor those who served before us to make the U.S. Coast Guard the premier maritime service it is today.”

Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, introduced the bill in the House of Representatives July 27.

In a Philly Paper... I am Shocked!!

The whole story as told by the local Philly LIBERAL rag.

So, essentially, the U.S. government was now arming the very drug cartels that it was supposed to be helping Mexican officials fight.

Holder needs to be more forthcoming on the decisions that led to the death of Terry and others. He needs to detail how he plans to recover the other 1,400 weapons that "walked" before they end up at a crime scene. Finally, he needs to explain how the administration went from wanting to ban assault weapons to supplying them to drug lords.

Emphasis is mine!!

Bad Back on my Poor Wife.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday were tough on my wife. She did something strange to her back and was in immense pain including being brought to tears.  It racked my worry brain. My wife is tough as hell, so when she says she is hurting, I can usually see it. So ff to the doctors and xrays on Friday.  Good news, bad news? Good news, it is not Kidney Stones, but bad news it is ??????  So prescription for anti inflammatory pills and another for muscle relaxers and ZONK, she sleeps......  And sleeps, and sleeps... Good news, she is getting better, bad news, he stomach is getting killed by the anti inflammatory pills .  She suffered the entire day with a queasy belly. She is a tough girl/woman/wife.
She was up to me leaving her alone yesterday and I rode some miles with my oldest son. He and I went down to Maryland and had lunch at the Union Hotel! Then we rode up to the Dock bar in Essington to watch some of his band mates play an acoustic gig.  Great day!  I have great sons!
